Single in London - 6 March 2006
Back to the building work again. I've got some beautiful stairs being made for me...but it's incredibly painstaking work. The Polish guy who is making the stairs is building each one individually, re-seating the bannister and gradually working his way up three flights of stairs!
In the middle of all of that, I had a friend round for supper last night. And he made pancakes, Croatian style. That means huge quantities of eggs, marscapone, cream cheese and cream...and this same guy seems to think I should try and loose weight!
It was nice though, having someone round for a bite to eat. We had roast pork and apple sauce (English style)and then pancakes some hour or so later. Quite a few glasses of rum and coke (which doesn't seem to give me a hangover) and a lot of gossiping.
I'm beginning to panic a bit about where the flat will be by the weekend...I've got a party on Saturday and so it needs to be at a stage where people can get in and out safely! At the moment half the bannister is hanging off and there are bare floorboards with large nails and spikes on the landing. Perhaps I'll just go to bed and dream of polished staircases!
