Single in London - 1 March 2006
OK, this is the start of my dating (and general) diary. If you like it's a Blog - but being a bit of a techno-phobe I haven't quite got to grips with how to use the blogging software that is out there. And, some of this is directly related to how this site works, so I thought I'd put it here, at least for now.
I got up early this morning. I have builders in the flat at the moment putting in some new cupboards and bookcases and laying some flooring in the Hall. They are supposed to turn up at 8.30 in the morning, but can appear any time from 8am onward. So, I have to get up and dress. It's not my normal work-from-home routine. I'm used to getting up at 7 ish, but spending an hour or two working on various internet projects before I have a bath and get dressed. It suits me well because I can sit by the fire while the flat warms up a bit and it helps to break up the day a bit. So...up and at my desk by 8am. Amazing how productive that is! I've been working on another site that I am building with a whole load of shopping offers. Today I spent some time researching Chocolate. I'm looking for a few exclusive chocolate suppliers to put on the site and writing a bit about the history of Chocolate. Single people often talk about chocolate being a great substitute for sex - and after today's research I can see why! There's all sorts of medical reasons why chocolate works in the same way that sex does...releasing hormones and stimulants into the blood stream. Unfortunately one is good exercise while the other makes you fat - so I'm going to try and avoid making chocolate a long term substitute for sex!
This afternoon I went to a great presentation from U-Switch. They have a whole series of calculators to help you save money on your gas, electricity, broadband and home telephone service. Again, it was a business meeting, we promote U-switch on our finance site. Now, you'd think that since this WASN'T the chocolate supplier, I'd be safe enough. But, after the presentation, we all ended up having a few drinks in a bar in Victoria near their offices in London. It wasn't such a good idea for me. A couple of glasses of wine with no food and I feel quite bad. And, it makes me hungry. Combine hunger with being slightly tipsy and Burger King seems like a great option and Victoria Station is on my way home. Now here's something. When I am in a relationship, I tend NOT to give in to junk food. The guilt factor kicks in far too quickly if there's someone around to question my diet. But, as a single person, no such disciple is there. Perhaps keeping this diary will help a bit...I really DON'T like the stuff you buy from the fast food places and am becoming increasingly aware of things to avoid like Trans-Fats.
Home by about 10ish, I'm writing this diary before bed tonight...and counting my blessings that one of the benefits of single life is having the whole duvet to myself.
So, goodbye for now...more to come about being single in London tomorrow
